Activities Section 10 個活動如何排序：Common App 顧問實戰拆解
每年 9 月，我和學生開 Activities Section 會議時，最常聽到一句話：
「老師，這 10 個格子我有的填不滿、有的多到要刪——我活動到底怎麼排？」
Common App 給每位學生 10 個 Activities 格子 + 每格 150 字描述空間（含 50 字 position 名稱）。多數家長和學生把它當「履歷」填——按時間順序、按重要性、按參加長度。這幾乎一定會輸——因為 Activities Section 不是履歷，是 narrative。
Activities Section 是 adcom 看完 PS 之後，用來判斷「這個學生真實生活樣貌」的關鍵。它和文書必須形成 narrative arc——文書描述的 spike，要在 Activities #1 看到具體證據；文書展示的價值觀，要在 #2-3 看到延伸；文書沒寫的責任感，要在 #4-7 看到平衡。本文用我 15 年帶過 600+ 位學生的實戰經驗，拆解 Activities Section 怎麼排、怎麼寫、怎麼讓 adcom 在 5 分鐘內記住你。
一、Common App Activities Section 的硬規則
先講 Common App 的硬性限制：

最容易被忽略的兩個欄位：
- Hours/week + Weeks/year：adcom 會看這個推算可信度
- Continue post-HS：勾 Yes 表示「進大學會繼續」——這是 commitment 信號
很多學生把 Hours/week 隨便填——這是大忌。Adcom 會驗證——他們有經驗判斷某活動的合理時數，你寫高了會被扣分。
二、10 個活動的三層結構：Spike / Supporting / Breadth
我給每位 Dr. G. 學生的標準排序架構：

三層配比的意義
- Spike #1：80% 的 adcom 判斷力來自這個活動
- Supporting #2-3：證明 Spike 不是僥倖
- Breadth #4-7：證明你是個人，不是 robot
- Bonus #8-10：給你「deepness」——真實人類有的雜事

注意 #1 - #3 都和 CS 相關，但沒有完全重複——each adds a different layer of credibility。#8 和 #10 是「真實生活感」——adcom 看完會覺得這個孩子是個立體的人。
三、#1 排位：Spike 是什麼、不是什麼
#1 排位是整個 Activities Section 的命脈。Adcom 看 #1 的時間 = 看 #2-10 的時間總和。
Spike 必須是：
- 單一領域的最高成就
- 你自己選擇 + 主導的
- 有可量化結果（獎項、人數、影響）
- 與你文書呼應
Spike 不是：
- 一堆「relate」的活動的集合
- 學校強制的（「值日生」「班長」這種不算）
- 純參加沒成就（「練了 4 年 piano」沒大賽不算 spike）
如何選 Spike？

重要：成績和考試不能當 Spike。Spike 必須是外部活動——在 Common App 的 Honors / Activities section 出現。
四、150 字描述的死亡寫法 vs 救命寫法
整個 Activities Section 最容易輸的地方是 150 字描述。我看過的失敗描述 80% 死於這 3 件事：
死亡寫法 1：「Was a member of」
爛：
Was a member of the school robotics team. Participated in competitions and built robots.
好：
Led 8-person FRC team (Team #5612) through 2024 Regional; designed swerve drive system that ranked 14/68 teams. Recruited 5 freshmen, secured $4,200 sponsorship from Foxconn for parts.
差別：爛版本完全沒給 adcom 資訊；好版本給了 role + scope + result + impact。
死亡寫法 2：列 duty 不列 impact
爛：
Treasurer of Math Club. Responsible for managing finances, recording attendance, organizing events.
好：
Treasurer of Math Club (45 members). Tripled club budget ($600→$1,850) by writing 2 successful grant applications to school PTA; managed weekly competition prep funds; secured pizza sponsorship from Domino’s (cost saving $1,200/year).
差別：爛版本是 job description；好版本是你做了什麼具體變化。
死亡寫法 3：抽象形容詞堆疊
爛：
Passionate volunteer at children’s hospital. Developed strong empathy and leadership skills through this meaningful experience.
好：
Volunteered 240 hrs across 18 months at Taipei Veterans General Hospital pediatric oncology ward; designed bilingual storytime program (8 books in Mandarin + English) reaching 45+ patients aged 4-11; trained 3 new volunteers in trauma-sensitive communication.
差別：爛版本全是 feelings；好版本給的是具體數字 + 具體行動。
五、150 字寫作公式：Action Verb + Scope + Quantified Impact
每個 150 字描述的 backbone 是這個公式：
[Action Verb] + [What you did] + [Scope: how big] + [Impact: what changed]Action Verb 黃金清單
強動詞（用這些）：
- Founded, Launched, Led, Designed, Built, Developed
- Recruited, Trained, Mentored, Coached
- Researched, Analyzed, Published, Presented
- Raised, Negotiated, Secured, Generated
- Won, Earned, Awarded, Ranked
弱動詞（避免）：
- Was, Participated, Helped, Worked, Did
- Was responsible for, Assisted with
- Involved in, A member of, Took part in

六、量化的藝術：怎麼把模糊變數字
很多學生抱怨「我的活動沒有數字啊」——其實每個活動都有數字，你只是沒挖。
可量化的維度

沒量化：
Founded a tutoring program for elementary school students in our community.
量化：
Founded “Math Bridge” tutoring program for 4th-6th graders in Tainan, Taiwan (low-income district); recruited 8 high school tutors, served 32 students weekly for 18 months; 78% of participants improved 1 grade level by program end (measured via quarterly assessments).
差別：量化後 adcom 才能評估 impact。沒量化等於沒交代。
七、Hours/week 與 Weeks/year 怎麼填才不踩雷
Common App 要求每個活動填寫 Hours/week 和 Weeks/year——很多學生隨便填，這是大忌。
Adcom 的合理性檢查

規則：寫真實時數。寫高會被扣分（adcom 經驗豐富，他們會懷疑）；寫低會吃虧（沒人會看你的 dedication）。
Weeks/year 的算法
- 學年制活動（社團、運動）：通常 30-36 週
- 暑假活動（research、intern、camp）：4-10 週
- 全年活動（家族責任、長期 hobby）：48-52 週
八、家族小生意 / 打工：必須寫進去
這是 15 年來我反覆強調的一點：家族小生意、家裡打工、照顧弟妹、照顧祖父母——這些必須寫進 Activities Section。
很多台灣家長覺得「打工會讓學校覺得我們家窮 / 不重視學業」——完全相反。美國 adcom 把這視為極珍貴的責任感與成熟度證明。
為什麼這加分？

範例描述：
家族麵店：
Weekend operations at family beef noodle shop (Kaohsiung). Manage front-of-house during peak hours (80 covers Sat lunch); train new part-time staff in 5-step service protocol; handle Mandarin/Taiwanese bilingual customer service. Translated father’s hand-written recipes into digital inventory system, reducing weekly stock waste by NT$3,500.
照顧失智祖母：
Primary weekend caregiver for grandmother diagnosed with moderate-stage Alzheimer’s (2022). Manage medication schedule (4 drugs, 3× daily), bathing assistance, and structured cognitive activities (memory cards, music therapy). Coordinate with home health aide and rotate shifts with mother during her teaching weekends.
夜市攤位：
Co-managed family’s night market stall (Shilin, Taipei) selling traditional oden. Took inventory ordering responsibility from age 14; supervised 2 weekend part-time helpers during senior year; introduced cashless QR payment (LINE Pay) increasing transaction volume 28% in 2023.
注意：寫法仍然是公式——Action Verb + Scope + Impact——只是內容是家族生意。
九、Honors / Awards 與 Activities 不要重複
Common App 還有一個獨立的 Honors section（5 個獎項格）。很多學生在這兩個 section 之間搞混：

但有個技巧：Activities 可以提到獎項，但獎項本身放 Honors。

Honors section：
- USACO Platinum Division (2024)
- ISEF Taiwan Regional 2nd Place, Chemistry (2024)
- AMC 12 AIME Qualifier (2023, 2024)
Activities section（同一個 CS Spike）：
Competitive Programming. Self-studied algorithms (Codeforces Specialist, top 10% TW); achieved USACO Platinum 2024 through 18 months of weekend training; built open-source segment tree library (4.2k stars). Mentor 6 junior students in OI club.
注意 Activities 描述提了 USACO，但 USACO 獎項本身的「Platinum Division 2024」歸在 Honors section——沒有浪費 Honors 的格子。
十、Continue Post-HS 勾選：別亂勾
每個活動有個小框：「Do you plan to continue this activity in college?」
很多學生全勾 Yes——這是大忌。
怎麼決定勾不勾

規則：勾 Yes 等於 commitment 信號。亂勾會讓 adcom 懷疑你的真實性。10 個活動裡通常 3-5 個勾 Yes 最合理。
十一、排序的最後一個技巧：narrative arc
排完三層之後，最後一步是檢查 narrative arc：
一個人讀完你的 10 個活動，能不能在腦袋裡形成「這個學生是誰」的清晰圖像？

如果 PS 寫的是「the moment I understood floats」，但 Activities #1 是「Tennis Captain」——這個 narrative 是斷裂的。要麼換 #1，要麼重寫 PS。
我帶過的學生中，narrative arc 過關率最高的，最後都 admit 至少 3 所 Top 30。
十二、結語：10 個格子裡的你
Activities Section 是 Common App 裡容易被當作 admin 工作的部分——但其實它的 weight 僅次於 PS 和 transcripts。
15 年下來我給每位學生 Activities 的最後叮嚀：
Activities Section 不是讓你「填滿 10 格」，是讓 adcom 在 5 分鐘內看清楚一個立體的人。
如果你只有 7 個真正的活動，那就填 7 個——不要為了填滿而塞「上學期參加過一次」的 padding。Adcom 看得出來。
如果你有 15 個活動要塞 10 格，那就勇敢砍掉 5 個——保留最能說故事的 10 個。
最重要的：Activities Section 必須和你的 PS、Why Major、Diversity Essay 形成同一個 voice。一個 portfolio 的所有元素都在重複指向「這個學生是誰」——當這個 narrative 清晰、一致、且具體，admit 機率就會極大化。
10 個格子，150 字，背後是一個 17 歲的真實生活。寫真實的你，不要寫想像中的「申請者」。
